Remember the Voice of America Reporter whose family was abducted? He got them back at a price.

The kidnappers of the wife and child of a reporter with the Voice of America (VOA) in Kaduna, Mallam Nasir Birnin-Yero, who is based in Kaduna state, have released them after he paid a ransom of N2 million.

The abductors, about 30 in number, attacked his residence in Birnin Yero, near Kaduna at about 1:30 am lst Wednesday February 28th. Nasir had told newsmen at the time of the incident, that the suspects had asked for his whereabout from his wife and when she could not produce him, they went away with her and their son. The abductors in the process, killed an FRSC officer Sabitu Abdulhamid, his neighbor who had come out to challenge the abductors. 

Announcing his wife amd son's freedom, Birnin-Yero said the kidnappers released the victims late Friday at Sabon Birni, a village near Kaduna International Airport. They had contacted him with the demand of a N12 million ransom, threatening to kill his wife and son if he does not meet their demand. After much appealing, the kidnappers brought it down to N2 million. After paying the ransom, they released his wife and son unhurt.
